Vat-app is in early access — a small group of trusted users trying it before it's widely available. In software terms this is the alpha stage: real and working, but actively developing. This page explains what that means for you.

This is not a legal document written to protect us from you. It's a plain-language explanation of what Vat-app is, what we promise, what we can't promise yet, and how we'll handle the transition from early access to something more formal.
What you're getting access to
Vat-app is a tool that automates Finnish VAT return filing (ALV-ilmoitus) to Verohallinto via their official Vero API. It files zero-activity returns on your behalf, on a monthly schedule, so you never miss a deadline.
Early access is free for as long as you're in it. There is no charge, no payment information required, and no automatic billing. When early access ends, we'll have a real conversation before anything changes.
What we promise
- We will never sell your data to third parties
- We will never file anything to Verohallinto without your explicit setup and authorisation
- We will tell you before early access ends and pricing is introduced
- We will give you reasonable notice and time to export or delete your data if you want to stop
- We will delete your company data, certificates, and filing history on request
- Your Suomi.fi authorisation can be revoked by you at any time at suomi.fi/valtuudet
What we can't promise yet
- This is early access software — it may have bugs, unexpected behaviour, or downtime
- We are not a licensed tax advisor. Vat-app automates filing but does not provide tax advice
- You remain responsible for the accuracy of what is filed on your behalf
- We cannot guarantee 100% uptime — if a filing fails, you will need to file manually before the deadline
- Features and pricing may change between early access and general availability

Wider availability. Pricing introduced. Terms revisited together with early access users before anything changes. You will never be moved to a paid plan without a direct conversation first.
What data we store
To operate the service we store:
- Your company name, Y-tunnus, and contact details
- Your production certificate and private key — encrypted at rest using AES-256-GCM with a per-company session key
- A history of every VAT return filed, including the Verohallinto reference number and timestamp
We do not store your Suomi.fi credentials, your banking details, or any invoice or transaction data.
Your certificate and private key
To file VAT returns on your behalf, we hold your Verohallinto production certificate and private key. This is standard practice for automated filing services — the same model used by Procountor, Netvisor, and other Finnish accounting SaaS products.
Your private key is encrypted with a key that is stored separately from the database. A database breach alone would not expose your credentials. We will publish more technical detail on the encryption architecture for those who want it.
